The Danish Working Environment Authority on an unannounced visit: 10 years later and still no comments!

Tele-Mark A/S was recently visited by the Danish Working Environment Authority, exactly 10 years after their last inspection in August 2014. (Read more about this visit in our news from August 2014).

In an industry where work can be mentally demanding, we at Tele-Mark A/S give high priority to the working environment, well-being and job satisfaction of our employees. Our ambition is clear: We want to be the best workplace in the telemarketing industry. A healthy working environment is crucial for our shared well-being, and strengthens both commitment, motivation and the ability to retain employees. When we thrive, it creates a positive atmosphere that leads to better teamwork, higher seniority, higher quality work, happier customers and ultimately a stronger bottom line. It’s not really rocket science.

The Danish Working Environment Authority’s latest inspection report without any comments shows that we are on the right track. However, we are aware that the working environment can always be improved and that requirements and needs change over time. Therefore, we will continue to focus heavily on developing our working environment. To ensure that we constantly receive relevant feedback, we conduct regular employee satisfaction surveys – no later than spring 2024.

20th and 10th anniversary within a few days.

These days are significant at Tele-Mark A/S, as we have celebrated two remarkable anniversaries.

First we have Ann, one of our most experienced BtB contact brokers, who has been an invaluable part of Tele-Mark A/S for 20 years. Her expertise within BtB meeting booking is unmatched, and her long experience has made her an invaluable resource for the company, our colleagues and not least her customers. A few days later we celebrated that Mariann has been here for 10 years. In this regard, it is remarkable that Mariann has, among other things, had the same two customers throughout this entire time.

Our experience is that when hiring new employees in our industry, it often takes some time to determine whether the person has the right skills and what complexity of tasks they can solve. This has a direct consequence for the quality experienced by the customers of the “new” employees. In the years from our founding in 1989 until 2003, we at Tele-Mark A/S struggled with a sky-high employee turnover. Countless students in, countless students out. The result of this was that our ability to accumulate experience and skills was not there.

We therefore decided 21 years ago that we had to get better at retaining the best, much better. Specifically, we set ourselves the clear goal of becoming the best in the industry at precisely that, measured by seniority. A prerequisite for achieving that goal was to stop recruiting students and part-time employees.

The goal was achieved several years ago, and according to LinkedIn, we are still in the lead. LinkedIn provides company statistics on the company profiles of the various companies, including the employees who indicate they are employed by the company. At the time of writing, Tele-Mark A/S’s average years of employment is a whopping 8.2 – by far the highest in the industry.

When Tele-Mark A/S’ employees with an average employment period of just over 8 years book meetings, we have, many years ago, established that each employee is skilled enough to be a long-term part of Tele-Mark A/S, and experience shows that our customers greatly appreciate and reward continuing to be customers.

A somewhat unexpected request from the Danish Prison and Probation Service opens new doors

It started as an ordinary day at Tele-Mark A/S, until an email from the switchboard reached Mads’ inbox. The short message to contact the Danish Prison and Probation Service sparked speculation. Tele-Mark A/S or Mads had never received such a request before. Had someone in the family done something stupid? Maybe it was something about an employee that he had to deal with?

A little nervous, Mads called back to the Danish Prison and Probation Service, not knowing what to expect. Fortunately, all concerns were quickly dispelled when the conversation revealed that the Danish Prison and Probation Service wanted to explore the possibility of an exciting collaboration with a company like Tele-Mark A/S. Jan from the Danish Prison and Probation Service shared the vision that a possible collaboration could help optimize efforts to continue to provide relevant work assignments to the inmates, and suddenly Mads’ fear of an undesirable situation was replaced by excitement and a degree of pride.

It turned out that Jan had gotten the inspiration for the collaboration from a relation in his network who has been collaborating with Tele-Mark A/S for a long time. The idea of ​​adding professional meeting booking to the process of finding more work for the inmates was initially met with some skepticism in the Danish Prison and Probation Service, but as Jan says with a smile, “a slightly odd idea can sometimes lead to groundbreaking results.”

After overcoming doubts, the management decided to test it out. Tele-Mark A/S was selected as the preferred partner for the task. This marked the beginning of an unusual alliance, where a thoroughly trained Tele-Mark A/S contact person was assigned to be the first contact to potential partners on behalf of the Danish Prison and Probation Service.

The first small round in North Jutland has just been completed, and the result has exceeded all expectations. Jan, who has been leading the meetings, shares with satisfaction, “We have had about 20 meetings, and in only one of them have we not taken work home. It has really made an impression throughout the organization, and right up to the department.”

Jan, who at first felt like a “slightly crazy idea maker,” is now confident. “When I first launched the idea, it was almost as if everyone thought I should be put in to get that idea. But now, now that we have established that it has a very positive effect that exceeds all expectations, no one thinks that anymore. The results have clearly shown that the collaboration should be rolled out during Q1 2024,” he concludes.

Mads adds: “It has been something different for us, calling on behalf of the Danish Prison and Probation Service. Normally, one of the challenges of working with BtB meeting booking is to be put through to the right decision-makers. It is completely the opposite when we call on behalf of the Danish Prison and Probation Service; no questions are asked, just put through. I don’t think we have ever tried that before,” concludes Mads.
